​​As Your Developmental Editor, What Do I Provide?

I work with you to capture readers from page one by helping you:

​

• Structure the layout of your book 

• Format chapters and titles (for example, I might suggest merging two chapters or give you feedback on a chapter that is running too long)

• Plot the structure of your story (including catalyst, conflict, climax, resolving action, and ending)

• Flesh out underdeveloped settings

• Rework scenes where characters may be underperforming or disappearing (this can often happen with secondary characters) 

• Rework world building issues (such as an underdeveloped magic system or an unclear political system)

• Evaluate character motives (or lack of)

• Tighten a lagging pace

• Rework unclear POV's

• Rework inconsistent tone/authorial voice ​​

When Should You Hire A Developmental Editor?

Typically once you are satisfied with your first to final draft and before copy editing.
